Strip Theory for Underwater Vehicles in Water of Finite Depth
This paper addresses the need to know the unsteady forces and moments on an underwater vehicle in finite depth water, at small enough submergences for it to be influenced by sea waves. The forces are those due to the waves themselves as well as the radiation forces due to unsteady vehicle motions. Knowledge of these forces and the mass distribution of the vehicle allow solution of the equations...
متن کاملbuckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method
Optimality for underwater vehicles
In this paper, we study time-optimal trajectories for fully actuated planar underwater vehicles, with constraints on input forces. Using the Maximum Principle, we focus on the structure of singular extremals and their possible optimality.
A First Extension of Geometric Control Theory to Underwater Vehicles ?
This paper serves as a first study on the implementation of control strategies developed using a kinematic reduction onto test bed autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The equations of motion are presented in the framework of differential geometry, including external dissipative forces, as a forced affine connection control system. We show that the hydrodynamic drag forces can be included in ...
The spectrum of finite depth water waves
In this contributionwe study the spectrum of periodic traveling gravity waves on a two-dimensional fluid of finite depth. We extend the stable and highly accurate method of Transformed Field Expansions to the finite depth case in the presence of both simple and repeated eigenvalues, and then numerically simulate the changes in the spectrum as the wave amplitude is increased. We also calculate e...
